For DSL Extreme has sales tax on delivery and shipping charges for sending a modem for free.
Never heard of a transportation tax in California.

Some states (I know that is a CT, and New York is another), where it is allowed to levy tax on shipping fees. Never heard that the case in California. Here is the website of the State of California Equalization - probably more information here:
